I've been a big fan of this archetype ever since it was released. However with the release of Madolche Hootcake it can actually be called a competitive deck.

This is probably my most successful build. Please try it out and/or comment what you think about it!

Madolches are so weird. Whoever was in charge of making cards that day must've been hungry. They make we wanna eat sweets.

But anyway about decks...in general, should there be more spells, traps, or monsters? Or does it always depend on the specific archetype being used??

To people just starting out with building decks it's generally taught to use a structure with around 20 Monsters, 10 Spells, 10 Traps. This should however just be seen as a guideline.

How many spell/traps/monsters your deck needs for the highest performance depends on what it's trying to accomplish and what other decks in the meta requires you to play.

If you look at a deck like Lightsworn it's pretty common for them to run around 30 monsters and 10 spells. That deck is focused around milling lightsworns and sometimes also dark monsters to make it possible to summon cards like Judgment Dragon, Black Luster Soldier and Chaos sorcerer. In that kind of strategy it doesn't make much since to run 10+ Traps since you are looking to mill monsters, not traps/spells.

However it's easy to get color blinded. Cards like Effect Veiler, Necro Gardna, Tragoedia and Gorz which Lightsworn often runs functions more as trap cards but doesn't interfere with the decks overall strategy.

When it comes to the meta affecting your deck building you can see it pretty clearly in my Madolche Deck. I'm using 3x Emergency Teleport and a T.G. Striker to easily access Naturia Beast which destroys Spell Books, but both engines also works decently with the decks overall strategy as well (Special summoning a level 3 monster is very often needed to OTK).

I'm also using quite a bit of hand traps and 3x Compuls which does well against Dragon Rulers as well as a lot of semi-meta decks. It's also nice in the overall strategy since hand traps is sent to grave as a target for Hoot Cake while Compuls can be used with Madolche Ticket.

If this were last format I would have definitely used 3x Mystical Space Typhoon in my main deck instead of some of these cards for example.
